Former Australia player Adam Gilchrist has lauded India’s fast-bowling trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj as he said that they are unplayable in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. While speaking to Fox Cricket, Gilchrist stated that batting first after winning the toss has to be the way to play against India in the ongoing World Cup. As of now, the Indian team has won five games while chasing the totals and defeated South Africa, Sri Lanka, and England after batting first in this World Cup.
“I think firstly winning the toss and batting first, given how India have gone about their business. I don’t suggest that they have a weakness in chasing. They have the greatest-ever run-chase co-ordinator in Virat Kohli,” said Gilchrist.
The former Australia wicket-keeper also spoke about how the likes of Siraj, Shami, and Bumrah have unleashed fire and are unplayable in this World Cup.
“But the damage that the Indian bowling attack has been doing under lights, they have been lethal. Siraj, Shami, and Bumrah have been almost unplayable. It might be more conducive to bat against them in daylight. They have always had a powerful batting line-up. But it’s the potency of the bowling that’s making them such a threat at the moment,” Gilchrist added.
“India has a well-balanced bowling lineup as the fast bowling talent is beautifully married with a couple of varieties of spin. Jadeja’s stats are amazing. Kuldeep Yadav is a variation that can often bamboozle any opposition. And then you have Ravi Ashwin sitting in the background hardly getting a go,” said Gilchrist.
Talking about the points table, the Men in Blue are the top-ranked side as they are still undefeated in this tournament. Rohit Sharma’s led team will be taking on the Netherlands in its last league game on Sunday.
