In a potential development for cricket enthusiasts, Rishabh Pant, the dynamic India keeper-batter, has reportedly made an appearance at the Delhi Capitals (DC) training camp ahead of IPL 2024. The camp, organized by the franchise, is currently underway at the Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata. The IPL 2024 Auction is also set to happen next month.

The news gains significance as Pant has been on the sidelines since a serious car accident towards the end of the previous year. His last competitive match dates back to India’s tour of Bangladesh in December 2022.

The car accident, occurring on the eve of the New Year, saw Pant’s vehicle collide with a divider and catch fire on the Dehradun highway. Miraculously, he escaped without career-threatening injuries. Post-accident, Pant underwent multiple surgeries, including a significant one on his knee to address an existing issue and damage sustained in the crash.

After his surgical journey, Pant commenced rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, showcasing remarkable progress in his recovery. His return to public view was marked by attending a DC game in IPL 2023 in Delhi. Subsequent milestones included walking without crutches, resuming batting in the nets, and participating in a cricket match in Bengaluru on August 15, 2023.

Media reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is adopting a cautious approach to reintegrate Pant into competitive play. Speculations hint at the possibility of Pant featuring in a few domestic matches before making a return to the Indian team.

The latest unverified update comes from a fan video on X (formerly Twitter), where Pant is seen interacting with players and staff at the DC training camp in Kolkata. Notably, he appears to be walking effortlessly without a support strap on his knee. While these visuals bring optimism to Pant’s fans, awaiting his comeback, it’s crucial to note that these facts remain unverified as of now.
