MS Dhoni and IPL titles are a love story made in heaven. The man has made it a habit of collecting these trophies and courtesy of Chennai Super King’s (CSK) 5-wicket win over the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Dhoni now has five IPL trophies in his cabinet, the joint-most by any captain along with Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma.
After their thrilling last-ball victory in the summit clash over GT, CSK shared a video of a their team hotel celebrations. The newly crowned IPL champions of 2023 received a rousing reception at the hotel with captain MS Dhoni cutting a special five-tier cake, indicating the five titles that the Men in Yellow have won in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
As one would imagine, the entire team looked in a celebratory mood and it was the young Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana who was seen carrying the IPL trophy. “The Kings Victory March! 🥳🦁,” the video was captioned.

Talking about the match, CSK won the toss and asked GT to bat first on the reserve day of the final. MS Dhoni chose to chase with rain expected later in the day which did came into the picture moments after CSK’s run-chase of 215 began. The Men in Yellow were then given a revised target of 171 in 15 overs. The match went one way and the other before ultimately it all came down to 10 needed off 2 deliveries. Ravindra Jadeja smashed a six and a four to help Chennai win the match.
Dhoni, playing his 250th IPL match, did not make an impact with the bat as he got out for a golden duck but made his presence felt with the help of a remarkable stumping and insppiring leadership.
