The first-ever season of Emerging Women’s Asia Cup T20 began on June 12 (Monday) in Hong Kong. The India ‘A’ squad announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023 in Hong Kong is being captained by Shweta Sehrawat, who was part of the Under-19 Women’s World Cup winning team. She was the highest run-getter in Women’s U-19 World Cup with 297 runs in 7 innings. The tournament, featuring five A teams of full-member nations, will be played from June 12 to 21. As per the official schedule, India ‘A’ will play their first Emerging Women’s Asia Cup T20 match against Hong Kong on 13th June (Tuesday). The BCCI announced the team on Friday. India are in Group ‘A’ along with Hong Kong ‘A’, Thailand ‘A’, Pakistan ‘A’, while Bangladesh ‘A’, Sri Lanka ‘A’, Malaysia and UAE ‘A’ are in Group ‘B’.
