Lucknow Super Giants’ young speedster Mayank Yadav unleashed his pace once more, recording the fastest delivery of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at 156.7 kmph against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2 (Tuesday).
In a commanding display, LSG secured victory over RCB in a match highlighted by Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran’s contributions in the first innings, followed by stellar performances from Mayank Yadav and Naveen-ul-Haq in the second innings.
On Saturday, the 21-year-old Yadav surpassed the 150 kmph mark nine times at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, delivering a blistering delivery clocked at 155.8 kphβthe then-fastest of the ongoing season. Yadav, hailing from the Sonnet Club of Delhi, showcased his speed once more on Tuesday. This time, he reached 156.7 kmph while bowling against Cameron Green in the clash against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

This achievement marks the fifth-fastest delivery in the history of the IPL, with Yadav ranking second among Indian bowlers. Umran Malik of SRH currently holds the top spot, having bowled at 157 kmph in IPL 2022.

In his opening over of the RCB vs LSG match, the right-arm pacer, who garnered attention with his match-winning spell of 3/27 on his IPL debut against Punjab Kings, immediately left his mark by dismissing Glenn Maxwell. Mayank Yadav dismissed Maxwell for a duck with a fiery delivery clocked at 151 kmph. Yadav maintained his excellent form by quickly removing Cameron Green, further denting RCB’s batting lineup.

He returned to dismiss Rajat Patidar, who skied a top edge high in the air. Mayank Yadav almost secured his fourth wicket of the night when he beat Dinesh Karthik for pace, but DRS indicated that the ball was heading over the stumps. Yadav concluded his spell with an outstanding 3-14 in four overs, marking his second three-wicket haul in his second match.
