England vs Australia Ashes 2023 2nd Test Lords Highlights: The hotly contested ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 2nd Test at Lord’s cricket stadium saw some dramatic scenes unfold after controversial dismissal of wicketkeeper Jhonny Bairstow in the first session. Bairstow ducked a delivery from Cameron Green but bizarrely left the crease after it. Aussie wicket-keeper Alex Carey showed terrific game awareness as he quickly throwed the ball towards the stumps for a run-out.
According to Law 20, a ball is considered dead when it is “finally settled”, which is “is a matter for the umpire alone to decide”. After looking at the replays, TV umpire Marais Erasmus adjudged Bairstow out. Unhappy with the decision, English fans at Lord’s started chanting: “Shame old Aussies, always cheating.”

However, the attack from crowd did not go well with Australian players David Warner and Usman Khawaja as the duo were involved in a heated confrontation with an old fan and had to be separated after intervention from the security.
England’s 2019 World Cup winning captain Eion Morgan said,” I have played my whole career here but never ever seen anything like this before, especially in the dressing room.”

Here is a statement from the MCC: “After this morning’s play, emotions were running high, and words were unfortunately exchanged with some of the Australian team, by a small number of Members. We have unreservedly apologised to the Australian Team and will deal with any Member who has not maintained the standard we expect through our disciplinary processes. It was not necessary to eject anyone from the ground and I am pleased to say that there was no repeat of this as the players resumed the field for this afternoon.”
