BCCI’s Jay Shah Confirms Revised Schedule For Postponed India vs Afghanistan ODI Series

India vs Afghanistan: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has given a big update on the India-Afghanistan ODI series. Initially, IND vs AFG ODI series was supposed to take place in June, this year, but the cricket boards of both the countries decided to extend the date of the series after mutual consent. According to the schedule released initially, India vs Afghanistan three-match series was to be held from June 23 to June 30, but now this series will be held next year i.e. in January 2024. Earlier on Friday (July 7), BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced the revised schedule of India vs Afghanistan ODI series after the BCCI Apex Committee meeting in Mumbai.

Shah also confirmed that BCCI’s new media rights (for bilateral matches in India) would come into place by the month of August. The new media rights will be for the next 4 years. BCCI secretary Shah said that the new media rights will be applicable from the eight-match series between India and Australia. The bilateral series between India and Australia will be played after the 2023 ODI World Cup. Apart from 3 ODIs, a series of 5 T20I matches will be played between the two teams. 

Shah said that the BCCI will soon announce the names of the Indian women’s cricket team’s coaching staff for the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, in September-October.

He also confirmed that the BCCI has given its approval to the Indian men’s and women’s cricket team for participation in Asian Games 2023. He said that the proposal to send Indian men’s and women’s cricket team for Asian Games 2023 has got the green signal from the Apex Committee of BCCI after their meeting in Mumbai on Friday, July 7. Shah said he hopes that India would definitely succeed in winning the gold medal in both men’s and women’s categories.
