India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2023: Rain Threat Looms Even Over Reserve Day Of Super Fours Clash

Colombo: All eyes are on the Colombo weather as arch-rivals India and Pakistan gear up for their Super Four encounter at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The two teams have already met once in the continental tournament in what was Group stage fixture. However, that match was called off after India won the toss, elected to bat first and posted 266 runs at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. Not a single ball could be bowled in the Pakistan innings.

With fans eagerly waiting for the much-anticipated fixture on September 10, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has also put in a Reserve Day for this match, the only fixture in the Super Four round to have such a provision. Even though there is high chance of rain on the match day which is September 10 (Sunday), the weather isn’t too promising either on September 11 (Monday) which happens to be the reserve day.

As per the forecast on Accuweather, there is over 66 per cent chance of a downpour at 3 pm on September 10. While there is a reserve day for this match on which a lot is at stake even terms of finances, chances of rainfall on September 11 increase to 99 per cent as per accuweather. The same weather prediction website suggests that September 10 can see some sunshine at least in the morning with a likelihood three hours on rain on Sunday.

As per the revised playing conditions for this match, every attempt will be made to finish the match on the designated day itself. However, in case the match has to be suspended for the day, it will resume from there on the reserve day. Thus, in case only one innings happens on Sunday, the second could happen on the following day.
