Lyon, who is playing his 100th consecutive Test, pulled up in the 37th over and had to be helped around the rope by the physio after suffering a calf strain. The way Lyon was limping in pain while running between the wickets leaves his Ashes future in doubt. He faced 13 balls to score 4 runs to help Australia finish at 279 runs, establishing a challenging lead of 371 runs.

Earlier, Australia were bowled out for 279 runs in their second innings, courtesy of a solid 77-run innings from Usman Khawaja. For England, Stuart Broad bagged the maximum 4 wickets, while Ollie Robinson picked 2 wickets. Australia had scored 416 runs in their first innings. After this, England scored 325 runs in their first innings, The hosts need 371 runs to win 2nd Test of five-match Ashes Test series, level series 1-1.
