The Indian team’s young speedster Arshdeep Singh started his county run with Kent last week and also scalped his first wicket in the league after he cleaned up Matthew Foakes in the match against Surrey. The Punjab-based pacer picked two wickets in the first innings and gave away 43 runs in 14.2 overs. However, it was in the second innings of the game when Asrsdeep’s best wicket came as he castled a dangerous Jamie Smith. While chasing a huge target of 501 runs, Smith played a fantastic inning when he smashed a century off just 70 deliveries on day 3.
Smith was batting on the score of 114 when Singh came from around the wicket and broke the batter’s defense.

Talking about the game, Surrey finished at 263/3 on Day 3 and they need 238 more runs to seal a victory at the St. Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. Kent has been playing terrific cricket as they scored 301 in the first innings and then restricted Surrey to just 145. Alongside Foakes, Arshdeep also scalped the wicket of Australia’s Daniel Worrall (12).
Coming into bat, Kent passed the 300 run mark and made 344 on the board with Arshdeep also contributing with his willow by making unbeaten on 12 off 11 deliveries, hitting two fours.
Previously, the talented seamer spoke about how Rahul Dravid helped him to play for Kent in the county championship.
“Feeling happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a great franchise. It is a great county with a rich history as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home. It is just colder than home,” said Arshdeep.
“Why Kent? A lot of this goes to Rahul Dravid, he told me about the history of this club and that he represented this club as well. I want to play because of that as well, he has inspired a lot of youngsters back home. This inspired me join Kent as well,” he added.
