England cricket board announced their squad for the third Test of the Ashes 2023 against Australia. Moments after suffering a loss in the Lord’s Test on Sunday, the English board named a 15-man squad for the third match that will be held at Headingley starting Thursday, July 6.   Ollie Pope has been asked to stay in England’s squad despite an injury scare as he batted with a shoulder injury in both innings.

As per the reports, Pope is set to go for scans and may be missing out on playing the upcoming Test. If at all he missed out, England have Dan Lawrence, the only batter from the squad who can replace Pope. Veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali too was asked to warm the bench in the second game but he is likely to make a comeback in the forthcoming game.

England also included Rehan Ahmed in the squad before the second Test, but the youngster has been dropped for the third game, hinting at Moeen’s likely return while players like Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have also been added to the squad.

Earlier, a terrific batting effort from the English skipper Ben Stokes (155 runs off 214 balls) went in vain as the Kangaroos outplayed the English side by 43 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match ENG vs AUS Ashes 2023 Test series. The Three Lions suffered a huge setback in the Ashes 2023 series after losing the first Test at Edgbaston as well as the second Test at Lord’s where both games were hard-fought but in the end, visitors sealed a victory.

England squad for third Ashes Test: Ben Stokes (captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
