Sports presenter Mayanti Langer took a swipe at her trolls by sharing a photo of herself in a suit in response to the massive trolling over her blue blazer dress during the semi final. Ahead of the World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia on Sunday, Mayanti took to X (formerly Twitter) to take a dig at her critics over their ‘sincere concern’, affirming that she “can indeed afford a suit for the final”.

During the semi-final, she had worn a blue blazer dress which was at the centre of severe trolling and sparked a meme fest on social media. However, on the eve of the final, she posted a picture of herself in a blazer and commented on X, “So moved by your genuine concern regarding budgets. Concerns that have me tagged in innumerable posts, my family and friends being inundated by images, some altered perhaps to play down the atrocity of a Blazer dress 🫣 Fear not, we can afford a full suit for the Final 🥹”.

Mayanti began her career as a TV presenter in 2007 and swiftly gained prominence, becoming a familiar face on television. The Indian cricket team, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, is poised to face Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Indian players are eager to stretch their winning streak to 11 and secure the coveted ODI World Cup title for the third time, promising an exhilarating clash against Australia. Meanwhile, Australia is riding a wave of confidence after securing eight consecutive victories. If Australia defeats India, they would clinch the ODI World Cup title for a record sixth time.

Stringent security measures have been implemented at the stadium, where numerous VIPs – including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Australian Deputy PM Richard Marles among other dignitaries – are expected to attend and witness the gripping match. Additionally, the Indian Air Force will stage a magnificent air show preceding the game.
