It was quite a remarkable season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) that reached its climax at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The IPL 2023 final too was much like the season, like no other. While the summit clash of the competition was originally slated to happen on May 28 (Sunday), rain made no play possible on that day and hence the match was postponed to May 29 (Monday). On the reserve day, Gujarat Titans (GT) batted first and posted 214/4, the highest-total that has ever been posted in a titular contest. However, as CSK’s run-chase began rain returned.
After a long wait, the match resumed past midnight and dates had changed to May 30. The Men in Yellow were handed a revised target of 171 to win in 15 overs. Devon Conway was the top-scorer for CSK as he made 47 off 25. The match swayed one way and the other before finally it came down to 10 needed off 2 balls and Ravindra Jadeja on strike for Chennai and Mohit Sharma with the ball in hand for GT. However, it was Jadeja who smashed a six and a four to help his side cross the winning line and put the entire into ecstasy.
Moments after Jadeja finished it off for his team, Dhoni was seen lifting Jadeja on his shoulders. And now a month has passed ever since that historic night in Ahmedabad where Hardik Pandya-led GT came agonizingly close to a historic feat but it was the Men in Yellow who won their record-equalling fifth trophy. CSK’s post to mark 1 month of the win has gone viral on social media with millions of views. The clip has some of the iconic moments from that incredible night of the final.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has promised to return for one more season for his fans. He did undergo a knee surgery after the conclusion of the IPL and his participation in IPL 2024 will also depend on how his body copes up with his training and whether he is ready for the exertion of another season of the league.
