The much-awaited fixture for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is likely to be unveiled by the International Cricket Council on June 27, Tuesday. As per the reports, the schedule is expected to be held in Mumbai at 11:30 am. On the basis of the media invite, the event will be taking place at Astor Ballroom, St. Regis, Lower Parel in Mumbai.
Earlier, the BCCI and ICC announced a major change to the draft dispatched to the International body. As per the report by Cricbuzz, Eden Gardens of Kolkata will replace MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai as the venue to host the semifinal of the CWC 2023.
“The decision to allot a semifinal to Eden Gardens took shape at a meeting of the state associations of host cities with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC) officials on Monday (June 26). There were 12 associations who attended the meeting,” the Cricbuzz report said.
The opening game of the World Cup 2023 is slated to happen on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with reigning champions England locking horns with runners-up New Zealand. The Men in Blue on the other hand will start their World Cup 2023 campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8 and they will go head-to-head against Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11.
The high-octane clash between India and Pakistan is set to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad. The Knockout games are likely to be played on November 15 and 16, followed by the final on November 19, which will take place in Ahmedabad. The 12 venues for the World Cup 2023 are anticipated to be New Delhi and Dharamsala in the North Zone, Lucknow in the Central Zone, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Pune in the West, Kolkata and Guwahati in the East, and Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram in the South.
