The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup has already started with both Pakistan and Sri Lanka hosting the prestigious event. The time has come for the much-anticipated game as seven-time winners India will be taking on Pakistan at the Pallekele International Stadium in Sri Lanka for the third match of Asia Cup 2023. On the back of a solid win against Nepal, Pakistan will come to play this game and will look to continue their winning momentum while India who will be playing their first game will look to start their campaign on a high.
This will be the first meeting between the two sides after the blockbuster clash in Melbourne last year. Virat Kohli was the star with the bat as he smashed an unbeaten 82 runs, helping India to win the game by four wickets. A month before that game, two sides shared a win each in the Asia Cup where the Men in Green lost the first in the group stage but sealed victory in the more crucial one in the Super Four round, which helped them knock out India.
However, this will be their first-ever ODI face-off since the 2019 World Cup. India has a slight advantage over Pakistan in the ODI format of the Asia Cup as they have seven games out of 12 meetings.
But in the end, chances are bleak whether this high-octane clash will happen or not as rain is likely to play spoilsport in the Kandy. As per Accuweather report, 84% chance of rain is there during the day. In the morning, a 60% chance of a downpour is there.
