‘Mereko Koi Mere Maa Behen…’: Yashasvi Jaiswal Opens Up About Duleep Trophy Controversy

A major controversy erupted on the final day of Duleep Trophy 2022 final, which was played between South Zone and West Zone. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who in all likelihood will make his India debut in the upcoming India’s tour of West Indies, was sent off the field by his own team West Zone’s skipper Ajinkya Rahane due to disciplinary issues. The match had to be stopped 2-3 times because Jaiswal got involved in a verbal altercation with South Zone batter Ravi Teja. Umpires and Ajinkya Rahane had to intervene to calm things down but when Jasiwal continued sledging despite many warnings, captain Rahane had no choice but to ask Jaiswal to leave the field. He eventually returned after a few overs.

In an exclusive conversation with Lallantop, Jaiswal opened up about that incident and said there is some aggression in him that comes out from time to time.

“Agression jaruri hai, mentally main bahut aggressive hoon. Kabhi kabhi dikh jaata hai, I guess. Par maine aisa kuch khaas to bola nahi tha, jo hota hai theek hai. Uske baare mein baat kar ke kya milega (Aggression is important, and I am aggressive mentally. Sometimes that comes out, I guess. But I hadn’t said anything big at the time, but it’s ok; things happen. What is the use of talking about it now?)” he said.

Speaking about sledging episodes in IPL, he added, “Who says that seniors don’t get sledged? It happens to everyone. No one really knows about it. It depends on who is saying what. Bhai mereko koi mere maa behen ke baare me bolega, main thodi sununga (If someone says things about my mother or my sister, I won’t tolerate it),” he added.
