Marco Bezzecchi sealed victory in the inaugural Indian Grand Prix on Sunday after a stellar performance from beginning to end. Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia sustained a crash that blew the world championship competition wide open. Bezzecchi lost out on a sprint podium after colliding with teammate Luca Marini, ending fifth. Jorge Martin finished at the second spot after risking a penalty while Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo concluded the podium after the two were involved in an intense fight during the final lap.
It was India’s sports minister Anurag Thakur who presented the Yamaha team principal with the trophy for the winning constructor while Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath handed over the winner’s title to Marco Bezzecchi. The three riders then started spraying the champagne bottles on each other. That was a thrilling race between the riders in the first-ever Indian Grand Prix in the MotoGP held at the Buddh International Circuit.
