Kolkata Knight Riders hosted Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Eden Gardens in the evening match and the match didn’t disappoint even once at any given stage. After getting a strong start, KKR’s batting order stumbled and were reduced to 119/6 as knocks from Phil Salt and Ramandeep Singh guided KKR past 100-run mark.
What followed later was pure mayhem as Rinku Singh and Andre Russell unleashed assault over the SRH bowlers, and KKR crossed the 200-run mark to set a target of 209. In reply, SRH themselves made a strong start and were cruising until the introduction of Sunil Narine, and the spin attack of KKR, alongside Russell, reduced 145/5 in 17 overs. With 64 needed off 18, Klassen plyed one of the greatest innings of the modern era, as his 63 made the chase a cakewalk with 6 required off 4, until a ‘certain’ Harshit Rana broke SRH’s hearts and KKR won by 4 runs.
