Rahkeem Cornwall was at his destructive best in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Barbados Royals vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots fixture on Sunday (September 3) at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. While St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Innings batted first and posted a formidable first innings total of 220/4, thanks to half-centuries from Andre Fletcher, Will Smeed and Sherfane Rutherford, Cornwall’s attacking hundred in Barbados Royals’s run-chase helped them reach their mammoth target with 11 balls to spare.

The West Indian all-rounder completed his hundred off 45 deliveries and reached the milestone with a single off the bowling of Benny Howell in the 15th over. Eventually, Cornwall was retired hurt for 102 but not before he had left his team on the verge of a victory. His bat-drop celebration immediately after reaching to his hundred has gone viral on the internet.

After his match-winning knock which included 4 fours and 12 sixes, Cornwall dedicated his maiden hundred to his son. He revealed that it was his son’s birthday. Cornwall had a dream day out in the middle as he was also the pick of the bowlers, picking 2 wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs.

“Today is my Son’s birthday, I dedicate this knock to him. My two sons always back me. Pitch was really good and I backed myself. My first hundred. I back myself to get my team to a good start. They (crowd) keep me going, so I want to give them something to cheer about. I haven’t gone past the powerplay, once I go past that I could go big. Thanks to my family for supporting me,” he said after the match.

Apart from Cornwall, Rovman Powell also played a good little hand in the run-chase. He scored 49 from 26 balls and remained unbeaten till the end. His innings was studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
