Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) were up against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in Qualifier 1 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL). While TKR eventually registered a comfortable victory in the contest, there was one particular incident during the match that has gone viral on social media. This happened when GAW skipper Imran Tahir unintentionally blocked the on-field umpires field of vision during his follow through after the first ball of his spell in the match.
Notably, Tahir brought himself inside the powerplay and was bowling the fifth over of TKR’s first innings. On the first ball itself, he deceived the batter who attempted to play a sweep shot but missed and saw the ball hitting his pads. While there was a huge appeal for LBW but the on-field umpire suggested that he lost track of the ball and hence could not make the decision. It was here that he pulled off the iconic John Cena’s “You Can’t See Me Gesture”, the video of which has gone viral on social media.
Take a look at the clip here:
As it turned out, the team opted for the DRS and the batter had to take the walk back to the pavilion. Talking about the match, GAW batted first and scored 166/7 in their 20 overs riding on Saim Ayub’s 49 off 39 balls and Azam Khan’s 36 from 27 deliveries. However, TKR reached their target in 18.1 overs itself with Chadwick Walton scoring an unbeaten 80 off 57 deliveries. Nicholas Pooran (33 off 24) and Kieron Pollard (23 off 15) also chipped in with useful contributions as Trinbago Knight Riders entered the finals.
