India vs England: Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has left his commentary duties midway during the ongoing 2nd Test match between India and England. The cricketer-turned-commentator was forced to make an early exit from Visakhapatnam after his mother-in-law passed away. Gavaskar has headed to Kanpur soon after he received the news to be with his wife Marshneil Gavaskar.
In 2022, the former India captain was in Dhaka for a commentary stint during India’s Test match against Bangladesh which was when his mother had breated his last at 95 due to age-related illnesses. After a distinguished career as a cricketer, Gavaskar has earned a name for himself in respected voices of the sport as a broadcaster. The member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning side was part of the commentary panel in the series opener in Hyderabad and even resumed his duties with the broadcast team in Visakhapatnam before coming to know about the death of his mother-in-law.
