Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Score LIVE: Asia Cup 2023 Action Shifts To Pallekele For Group B Clash

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Score LIVE: Sri Lanka did manage to emerge as the champions of the Asia Cup 2022 which was held in the UAE in the T20 format. However, truth be told, even that win had come off as a surprise. Heading into Asia Cup 2023 which is being played in a hybrid model with matches held across Sri Lanka and Pakistan and will be played in the ODI format, the team do not necessarily start as favourites.

Having said that, much to their credit, Sri Lanka managed to clean sweep the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe a few months ago. Even though it is the same team that will compete in this continental tournament, Sri Lanka’s bowling attack has been weakened due to quite a few injury issues. The list of players unavailable include several of their first choice bowlers like Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera. In Hasaranga, they will also miss a bat handy lower order batter who showed what he is capable of with the willow in hand in the recently-concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL).

That leaves a relatively inexperienced Maheesh Theekshana to do the job more often than not with the bowl in hand for Sri Lanka. That also means that their batting should come good, a department in their game in which they have been struggling even in the  World Cup qualifier.

As far as Bangladesh are concerned, Litton Das has been ruled out of the entire tournament with an illness. Moreover, they also lost their home series against Afghanistan before Asia Cup but that shouldn’t take anything away from their good form especially in the ODI format which includes an ODI series win over India in recent times.

Bangladesh’s spinners will fancy their chances in Pallekele which will also host the India vs Pakistan clash on September 2 and even though it is a home advantage for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh won’t mind the conditions either. Don’t be surprised then if Bangladesh manage to emerge victorious but rule Sri Lanka out also at your own peril.

An exciting game of cricket awaits us then with the first ball set to be bowled at 03:00 pm (IST).
