Cricket Australia Announce Squad For AUS vs PAK 1st Test

Australia vs Pakistan 1st Test complete squad, venue, date, live streaming: Cricket Australia has revealed their official squad that will represent Australia in AUS vs PAK 1st Test of the three-home Test series against Pakistan. 37-year-old veteran opener David Warner has been named in the Australian squad for the 1st Test only, set to be played between December 14-19 in Perth.

AUS vs PAK 1st Test might be Warner’s Sydney Cricket Ground farewell. Should David Warner retain his spot for AUS vs PAK 2nd Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, commencing on Boxing Day, the veteran opener would be positioned for a potentially ideal farewell on his home ground in Sydney from January 3 to 7.

David Warner has already expressed his desire to conclude his Test cricket career in the iconic Baggy Green at Sydney and continue representing Australia in ODIs, T20Is. His recent performance in Tests has been inconsistent, scoring runs with an average of 28 in red-ball format since the summer of 2019.

Talented pacer Lance Morris might make his debut in AUS vs PAK Test series, if not in the opening Test match. Cameron Green marks his return to red-ball cricket, after losing the spot Mitchell Marsh. Senior spinner Nathan Lyon also makes his Test comeback after successfully recovering from a calf injury. The same injury had ruled out Nathan from the Ashes Test series. Nathan Lyon comes in for Todd Murphy.

“Thirteen members of the squad were part of the victorious World Test Championship and successful Ashes tours over the winter and Lance Morris has been recalled after recovering from his back injury over the same period,” Chairman of selectors George Bailey was quoted as saying by AP.

Australia squad for AUS vs PAK 1st Test: Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Lance Morris, Steve Smith, Mitch Starc, David Warner.
