Bangladesh beat Bangladesh by 6 runs in an absolute thriller of a match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday (September 15). In what was the final match of the Super Four stage of the continental tournament, the result of which had no impact on the final lineup with both Sri Lanka and India having sealed a place in the summit clash, India decided to bowl first. After being reduced to 59/4, a partnership between Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy helped them revive their innings as they eventually posted 265/8.

In response, India lost early wickets but Shubman Gill held his end up and responded with a fine century (121). However, Bangladesh continued to take wickets and eventually find a way to get past Gill with the required run rate mounting. Axar Patel showed some fight with the bat scoring 42 off 34 but got out in the penultimate over of the match. With 12 needed of 6 balls, Mohammed Shami did manage to find a boundary but got run out in an attempt to get back on strike for the final ball, ending India’s innings at 259.

This is a Developing Story. More Details will be added..
