The Rohit Sharma vs Hardik Pandya captaincy saga at the Mumbai Indians (MI) may not end anytime soon. While Rohit, the Team India captain and the man who has led MI to each of their five titles so far, was removed as the team captain before IPL 2024, it was Hardik Pandya, who was not even in the squad last season, who was named the skipper of the side. To make matters worse for the team management who backed the move to appoint Hardik as the captain, the team has got off to a horror start after having lost each of their first three matches.

And now several reports of a rift of sorts in the team have surfaced. One such report carried by News24 claims that a MI player has informed them that Rohit is not happy with the way Hardik has led the team and might even leave the franchise at the end of the season. As per the source, there are several disagreements between the two players regarding various decisions which hasn’t helped in making a good atmosphere in the team dressing room.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has been booed in each of MI’s three matches so far. While it was still understandable to an extent when MI played away matches in Gujarat and Hyderabad, but he continued to be booed by fans even during MI’s home match against Rajasthan Royals (RR). When Hardik was booed at the toss during MI vs RR fixture, Sanjay Manjrekar who was presenting the toss asked the fans to ‘behave’, the video of which went viral on social media.
